Local Sculptor George Gadson Set to Unveil His Latest Masterpiece In Honor of the Tuskegee Airmen

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (March 7, 2006) - Famed sculptor, George Gadson will unveil his latest piece depicting a Tuskegee Airmen during the Media and Community Recognition Day program in honor of America's first African-American fighter pilots on May 3, 2006 at the African-American Research Library & Cultural Center (AARLCC), as a part of the 2006 McDonald's® Air Sea Show®.
Gadson, a self-taught artist and Duke graduate, is a Florida native who has gained world-wide recognition for his realistic portraits and sculptures of individuals and figures that have historical significance. He has been commissioned to create works of art for many high profile events and individuals, including two limited edition commemorative sculptures - "The Kicker" and "The Quarterback" for the National Football League's (NFL) Super Bowls XXIX and XXXIII.
Gadson believes that art plays a significant role in providing a quality of life and vitality to the community he serves. Gadson felt it necessary that he bestow upon America's first African-American fighter pilots and the AARLCC a piece of work that will leave an indelible mark in history on the citizens of South Florida for years to come.
His latest sculpture of a Tuskegee Airmen will be unveiled and donated as a permanent special collection piece to the AARLCC.
